Virgo Full Moon: Perfection is an Illusion (March 9)
March 9, 2020: Virgo Full Moon
The Virgo Full Moon calls on us to see both the differences and the similarities. While we may be drawn to classify and criticize, remembering that everything is connected—even if we can’t immediately perceive it—can yield a greater acceptance of self and others. This Full Moon provides an opportune time to focusing on healing imbalances in our physical bodies through meditation, prayer, dreamwork, and our creative imagination. We can find systems that help us to further our connection to tap into experiences streaming with love, beauty and grace.
If we find ourselves called on to be of assistance, it’s important to remember that service need not equal sacrifice. To give is one thing, to give everything away is yet another. If we don’t replenish our personal ocean of inspiration, we will experience an emotional drought that will not only deplete our life force but also our ability to be of service to others.
We may find ourselves swimming in idealism, striving to make things be as best as they can. While this may feel virtuous, just watch that you don’t set unrealistic expectations for yourself and/or others. Remember that perfection is an illusion, a false benchmark which when held as a goal can only but lead us down a path of worry, anxiety, and suffering.
Virgo is focused upon cleanliness and hygiene, and with the spread of the coronavirus we are coming to realize that prevention—through hand washing, refraining from touching our faces with our hands, finding alternatives to shaking hands, and staying a safe distance away from anyone who is coughing or sneezing—is one of the smartest things we can do. All the while, we need to be diligent yet manage our potential for panic; with Pisces being the sign that inspires the arising of all sorts of ideations—some based in reality and others based in anxiety—this can be tricky. Yet, at the baseline it seems like the Virgo Full Moon can remind us that we can start with the basics, that we can adopt good hygiene practices to help support our well-being and those of us around us. That may help us to feel more confident in our ability to “steer our ships” in a healthful and secure way during this foggy time of unknowns.
The Full Moon occurs the day that Mercury stations to go direct and end its recent retrograde cycle. As such, we may find ourselves swimming in a sea of information, whether that reflects numerous ideas swirling in our mind, a cornucopia of conversations that others want to have with us (or us with them), and/or breaking news seeming to be coming at quite a quick clip. If the pace feels too fast and furious, remember to not feel pressured to process or respond in a manner that feels unnatural or has you rushing to conclusions you’re not ready to make. Delight in the pause, discern what’s priority, and take time to digest the information, insights, and inputs to which you are connecting.
Additionally, this Full Moon occurs the day after the Venus/Uranus Conjunction. As such, we may find ourselves still surprised by newfound understandings related to our perspective on a relationship, the way in which we define beauty, and/or our approach to money matters. If you found yourself with an unexpected breakthrough in awareness related to the things that you truly value (including those within you) consider how you may be able to further use these to be of service to others and/or have them help you generate a deeper level of healing and well-being.
This month’s Full Moon falls at 20 degrees of Pisces (the location of the Sun) and Virgo (the location of the Moon). While everyone experiences the energies of a Full Moon, if you have planets or pivotal points (i.e., Ascendant/Descendant or Nadir/Midheaven) around this degree in Pisces, Virgo, or the other mutable signs—Gemini and Sagittarius—it may impact you more intensely.
Virgo Full Moon Apothecary Suggestions
Pisces is associated with the feet, pineal gland, and the immune/lymphatic systems while Virgo rules the intestines and digestive system. Pay extra attention to these parts of the body around the time of this Full Moon.
Pedicure: Why not give your Pisces-ruled feet a treat during this Full Moon? If it’s not convenient to schedule a salon pedicure, you can easily do one at home. Whether or not you apply polish, a pedicure can including soaking your feet for a few minutes in a warm mineral-salt bath. After drying your feet well, massage them with some lotion or body oil. You can add a few drops of peppermint oil for a pedi-pick-me-up or some myrrh oil if cracked heels need some tending.
Aspen flower essence: During this Full Moon if you find yourself highly sensitive to the thoughts and feelings of others, and it feels like it’s landing you in a sea of emotional unease and vague anxiety, consider Aspen flower essence. It can bolster the ability of the conscious mind to sift through impressions to which it is connecting so that we don’t unconsciously take on the fears and apprehensions of those around us (including the general collective). It helps to support both clarity and a feeling of psychic protection. (Flower essences are made from flower-infused water and work energetically to restore emotional and mental balance. You can find them in natural food stores or holistic pharmacies.)
