Happy Solstice + Welcome to Capricorn Season

I’m excited to share with you the first of my new series with Devin Jones. Widely known for her gorgeous and creative makeup design, Devin will design a beautiful embodiment of the zodiacal sign each month, which will be accompanied by my reflections on to expect over the coming weeks. Here are my thoughts on Capricorn Season….

When the Sun is in Capricorn (December 21 - January 19), we're inspired to be productive and efficient. Working hard feels natural and we aren't afraid to dedicate the time and elbow grease to accomplishing what we deem to have significance; after all, we’ve got success and mastery in our sights. During this month, life is seen through the lens of loyalty, giving allegiance to those we feel have been ardent in their support of us, while turning our attention away from those who haven't. Stretching finances, seeing how we can do more with less, may be more interesting than usual.

Yet, during Capricorn season, this focus on hard work may have us burning the candle at both ends...and approaching burn out. Connecting to the gravity of matters may partially eclipse our ability to feel and express light-hearted joy; so while hard work is important, also remember the importance of play, relaxation, and fun. Also, be careful that amplified sense of duty and responsibility during this period doesn't steer you to make decisions that preclude taking your (or others') feelings into consideration. While structure has value in assisting us in being productive, be careful that it doesn't leave you too rigid or inflexible, as this could detract from your vivacity and limit your capabilities.
