As tempting as it may be, it’s not a week for cutting corners, notably when it comes to our approaches to relationships, artistic enterprises, or financial matters. We could feel like we just don’t want to do the work, and we want a sooner-than-later outcome. Yet, there may be too high a price to pay—whether in the moment with feelings of worry or guilt, or down the road with all the work we need to do to untangle a prematurely interwoven situation—should we sidestep important processes.

Remember that things take time and that sometimes delays aren’t necessarily restrictions that defeat progress but rather guiding principles that allow us the time, space, and perspective to create solid foundations upon which to build things of lasting value.

The astrological inspiration for these reflections? Venus—the planet related to values, love, and beauty—ties into the Saturn/Pluto Conjunction, squaring both of them this week. (While Saturn and Pluto don’t exactly come together until January 12, this whole year is awash with the inspiration from the close dance between these two—Saturn, the planet of structure, and Pluto, the planet of hidden riches. Given that these two just stationed retrograde a couple of weeks ago, the volume of their invitation feels quite strong right now).

Additionally, watch out for possible surprises and twists-and-turns when it comes to communication this week. It’s a time to stay bouncy when it comes to information gathering and sharing. Also, remember that when we consider the unexpected, it isn’t always a bad thing.

Reflecting this, it’s important to not pre-suppose the outcome of a dialogue or a message that you want to deliver. Be open to a variety of possibilities that may emerge rather than being tied too closely to the outcome manifesting in the exact way that you envision. Keep your intention set on the bigger picture, keeping a lighter grip on the pathway to getting there. This way if a detour emerges, you can see that it’s not necessarily something negative—but, possibly, an even more appropriate way to getting where you want to go, learning what you want to understand, and seeing how to best to get your message across.

If power plays and control issues play a starring role during this week, see if you can find a creative way to break the ice and recalibrate the dynamics. The pathway forward may require ingenuity, the type you get from looking at a situation with a fresh pair of eyes and a different-than-usual angle. And yet the solution that arises with that Aha! may then be one that seems so obvious that you can’t believe you didn’t see it before. Yet, you didn’t, and that was OK. You have now. And there’s no time like this very moment.
