From an astrological perspective, this week I’ve got my eye on two things: the Sun/Mercury Conjunction and the Venus/Pluto Square. Below I share about them as well as my quick take on a current event—Giorgio Armani cancelling his public fashion show in Milan—through an astrological lens.

Sun/Mercury Conjunction

Each time that Mercury moves through its retrograde cycle it makes a conjunction with the Sun, occupying the same zodiacal location. This is known as the inferior conjunction. Skywise, during this time, Mercury stands between the Earth and the Sun. (There’s also another type of alignment between the Sun and Mercury called the superior conjunction which occurs when Mercury is in direct motion; the last superior conjunction occurred on January 10).

When the Sun and Mercury unite, mental activity may feel exceptionally radiant and bright. There’s a focus upon intellectual processes, the translation of data into a conceptual framework, and heightened attention being paid to the way in which people and items move from point A to point B.

Given that the Sun and Mercury are currently in poetic Pisces, it may be that a significant part of our pathway to understanding comes through allowing ourselves a circular route, rather than a straightforward one. As Pisces reflects the quality of diffusion rather than concretization, if we try too hard to force ideas and ideations through a narrow rational channel, we may find ourselves feeling flooded, overwhelmed, and perhaps confused. Rather, let information and insights wash over you, connect to how they feel, and see how they may make sense from an intuitive angle. Turn to your mind’s eye to see if the power of inner sight and visualization can help you to further make sense of something, whether it’s in the here/now or leading to a plan in the near future.

Venus/Pluto Square

As Megan Skinner and I spoke about in our February So Divine! podcast, one of the star players this month seems to be Venus. We focused upon her not only because of the union she made with healing-inspired Chiron earlier this month but also because of the square alignment she makes with Pluto, which occurs this Friday.

When Venus and Pluto align like this, the call to action often reflects the need to dig deep down and honestly assess what we value and find worthwhile. We may find ourselves more frustrated than usual regarding superficialities in partnerships, wanting to stir the pot a bit so that we can bore through staid patterns that may bore us. Our experiences may not only come through actions we initiate—some of which may occur because of subconscious motivations that break through—but also others that stem from situations that are not readily within our control (after all, Pluto relates to power, control, and things that are hidden from view).

If a situation—whether about relationships, finances, beauty, pleasure, and/or things you find to be worthwhile and valuable—rattles you, see if you can dig below the surface a bit to understand just what it is bringing up. Within that substrata you may find wisdom that can help you to orient as you move forward; additionally, the insights you gain may even just help you to find a more steady state, a deeply toned understanding of how connected we are to everything and how transformative power and the cycles of life aren’t just intellectual concepts but experiences that touch us all. From that space, remember that regardless of what we may need to surrender at any given time, that renewal and rebirth can take place, and are aided by the faith and love that we can find flourishing in the deep recesses of our heart and soul.

Speaking of Venus…

As I shared, as Venus relates to beauty, it also governs objects and experiences related to style, grace, and allure. As such, it’s the planet associated with fashion. And while this isn’t necessarily related to the Venus/Pluto Square per se, I did want to share something that I found to be of interest on the fashion front.

I saw this weekend that Giorgio Armani was the only designer so far to have cancelled his live fashion show, instead opting to do it in an empty fashion theater and live stream it, owing to his concerns related to the coronavirus. The Lombardy area in Italy, where Milan is located, has had numerous reported cases of coronavirus, with schools and other public places closed across the region.

As this struck me, I thought to have a look at his astrology chart, which I’d yet to see. (Click here if you’d like to see his chart.) I noticed that not only does he has a stellium in planets in nurturing, safety-oriented Cancer but that currently transiting Jupiter is opposing his Sun and Mercury while transiting Pluto is opposing his Pluto. I thought how this may be a time in which he’s experiencing an expansion of sensitivity to having spaces feel more nurturing and safe for people. As his fashion house noted: “The decision was taken to safeguard the well-being of all his invited guests by not having them attend crowded spaces.”

I share this with you to give you an example of a real-live expression of how astrological insight may help us to further understand our—and other people’s—character signatures as well as what it may be that’s motivating us at different moment in our lives.

Wishing you a transformative week,

All my best,

Stephanie
