How do you want to shine?

Ok, that may seem like a strange question to ask during Pisces Season. After all, it’s a month in which we may feel pulled to slip into the background and/or feel like we are a part of everything, rather than stand out and be recognized.

Yet, this week, we may recognize a galvanized pull to shine. The reason? This week the Pisces Sun makes a square to the Lunar Nodes; and anytime a planet stands in the midpoint of these points, it takes on a prominent role, seeming like it’s the channel through which we need to propel ourselves so that we can feel more in touch with our sense of destiny and purpose. And with the Sun representing core essence, luminosity, and radiance, it feels aligned that it’s a week to shine, to let ourselves feel like we are glistening with vitality and beaming who we are through and through.

That said, because it’s Pisces season, that doesn’t necessary mean that our shining is a full-on take-center-stage broadcasting of who we are. Rather it may be experienced more as feeling embodied within by a soulful glow, one that has us connect even more deeply into what lights us up, and moving—and expressing ourselves—gracefully from that place.

As I write this I am reminded by something that caught my attention this morning: I was captured when seeing Dan Levy—of Schitt’s Creek fame—in an electric yellow suit and sequin shirt. Not only did it make me so happy (I’m smiling again just thinking of it its beautiful brightiness) but it quickly had me think of Amanda Gorman and the now-iconic yellow coat she donned when she touched our hearts with her poem during the Presidential Inauguration. Remembering Amanda is a Pisces Sun, I quickly looked up Dan’s chart to find out that he too is a Pisces (and they both also have messenger Mercury and love-planet Venus in this dreamy sign as well).

Pisces is not thought of a sign that wants to feel separate and stand out. Yet, it does often embrace itself as a reflecting pool that can hold, transmute, and mirror back that which surrounds it as well as beam forth energies that may uplift spirits, touch hearts, and alleviate perceived suffering.

So perhaps we take a cue from these two Pisces and find a way this week to shine bright, expressing our sense of agency in a way that has us and others smile with delight. Not only does this reflect the Sun/Nodes Square but it also invokes the expand-your-broadcast-reach Mercury/Jupiter Conjunction.

We could do that by—like Amanda and Dan—donning luminous colors. We could also do this by beaming the luminosity of our caring and compassionate spirits. Either may seem like a courageous act: yet, mustering a greater level of confidence--as we shine forth who we are, as we feel an integral part of the tapestry of life around us--is yet another experience that the Sun square the Lunar Nodes invites in.
