Happy Virgo Season!

Yesterday, just after the Full Moon, the Sun shifted into Virgo, ushering us into a month in which organization and classification take center stage. It's a time when we're called to create structure through well-designed systems and experience that which can be produced when we approach things methodically. And whether cleanliness is or isn't close to godliness, in Virgo season it's a way to find center and clarity. Remembering that everything has its place--and putting each thing into its own--instills a spirit of vitality, opening up our energy and focus so that we can take on a project in which we can be of greater service to those in need.

We're called to appreciate the finer points and the details that make up the whole, and can put this to use as we follow through on our desire to practice a new craft, or further refine one that we currently adore. With its encouragement of seeing the pieces that make up the whole, and a deeply etched appreciation for the earthy and corporeal, Virgo Season is also a great time to focus upon bettering our health. It's a period where we cherish work and more readily harvesting the fruits of our labor.

Yet, if the Virgoan desire to wanting things to be "just so" goes overboard, it can lead to a penchant for perfection, which can have untoward consequences, including hypercritically of oneself and others. Relatedly, apprehension that stems from things never being as aligned and refined as they could be can inspire a rash of worry and anxiety that can take its toll not only on our outlook but on our physical well-being. And, while we may be able to see our well-being through a holistic lens and therefore discern patterns that underlay feelings of malaise, given that we may be perceiving things through a quite critical eye, we also need to watch for the potential that flares of hypochondriacal concerns could surface.

A love for the details may have us zoomed in too closely, having us miss the bigger picture, with our enthusiasm for the proverbial trees having us forego the proverbial forest. And while a grounded appreciation for what's visible and earth-bound yields many rewards, it's important that we also hold space for the imaginal, lest we become too stridently factual to the exclusion of our intuition and awareness of more subtle insights.
