With the path of totality for Monday’s solar eclipse spanning a swath of Mexico, the United States, and Canada, it seems that so many people have eclipse fever! And with this lunation cozying up with vulnerability-revealing Chiron, it may be that this eclipse—featuring the Sun and Moon in fiery Aries—is deeply catching our attention because it offers us poignant healing opportunities.

Even if we can’t see an eclipse in the sky where we live, these celestial events are renowned for being very powerful in the ways in which they can impact our lives. Oftentimes, life-changing events or reflections arise around the time of an eclipse.

Are you noticing any for yourself?

I definitely am, not only for myself—I’m about to embark upon a year of travel and exploration mixed in with spending time here in Seattle—but also for so many people I know. Most every recent conversations I’ve had with friends, family, and clients involved someone sharing big news, whether it’s selling a home, getting a book deal, receiving career-shifting media recognition, finding a pathway to experiencing long-awaited personal justice, forging ahead in a new relationship, and many other happenings that seem to be opening up big new windows of possibility.

That said, while we may be experiencing some significant movements, remember that reflective of the word itself, things are often ”eclipsed” around the time of eclipses. As such, you too may find yourself feeling like new seeds are being planted and yet not feel clear exactly how they will manifest and where they will take you. Know that that clarity should emerge with the passing of the coming weeks; and so, if it’s not yet evident what precisely it is that is about to be given form, that is just as it is around the time of these lunations.

Along with the sense that something is beginning, around the time of Solar Eclipses, there is also a striking feeling that certain things are coming to an end, so as to make space for the new that is about to take root. We should heed this feeling and attune to what seems to have reached its expiration date and is needing release. (This seems to be one of the reasons that stress levels may be elevated during eclipse season—after all, it’s sometimes challenging when we know we need to release something that we’ve been holding on to for a while, especially if we don’t yet know what will take its place.) In addition, remember that while eclipses, like this one, occur at an exact moment, it’s thought that the inspirations of it can be felt beginning weeks before. As such, you too may have already been noticing lots of metamorphosis in the air.

As shared above, this Solar Eclipse is in the sign of Aries. As such, may find ourselves connecting to the warrior within us, feeling more galvanized to champion the causes and missions that deeply touch us. We may find ourselves hearing the battle cry of our hearts and minds, which call us off the sidelines to fight for what we need and desire in our life, and at the behest of the lives of others. Given that Aries is related not only to willpower and drive but also to anger, we may also feel steeped in learnings related to how we react to frustrations and how we view and process rage.

This Solar Eclipse occurs at approximately the same zodiacal position as the one on April 8, 2005. Look back to that period of your life to see if you notice any similarities in inspiration and awareness.

There’s a very significant healing quality to this Solar Eclipse given that the Sun and Moon unite with Chiron. Classified as both a comet and a minor planet, in astrology Chiron represents the core wounds we carry. These may be the grief and sorrow we experienced in life as well as the self-limiting narratives we hold that restrict our sense of potential, and leave us with a sense of inadequacy.

Chiron offers a key to and desire for healing as we seek to resolve the pain we carry; in doing so, we are inspired to help others who have had similar journeys. In this, our wounds can become the root of our healing gifts, evolving our ability to be empathetic and stand with and for others through their pain. In doing so, both we and others may experience a sense of renewal and restoration.

Therefore with the powerful Chiron tie-in, we may find ourselves up close and personal with some of our personal “ouch” spots. Instead of cowering from them, the Aries Sun and Moon may give us a boost to be fully present and address them head on, allowing us to spring forward for ourselves and others in a deeper and more empowering way.

There was a Solar Eclipse in Aries last year (on April 20). For that, I crafted some sign-by-sign affirmations. While last year’s didn’t feature the same Chiron connection, as they may still bring value, I’m re-posting them here.

If you want, you can also use them as prompts for journaling. For example, one of the included affirmations for Aries is “I channel my energy with intelligence.” For this you could write about what that means to you, what it will feels like as you do it, and even ways that you can bring this into being in a more concentrated way. I’d suggest reading both your Sun sign and your Rising sign.

Well, if that wasn’t enough, there’s actually more happening this week.

Owing to Wednesday’s Mars/Saturn Conjunction, we’re encouraged to move really thoughtfully and fastidiously. If not, we may run into obstacles that we could have otherwise avoided. This feels important and something to really attend to since all the Aries eclipse energy may have us wanting to move at a quick and impulsive pace. Feel the fire of passion but see if you can temper its expression, prioritizing the long game rather than being solely seduced by short-term gains.

Thursday’s Sun/Mercury Conjunction (Mercury cazimi) has our minds burning bright. Thoughts stream forth and we may have the ability to burn away the trivial, so that we can see the essentiality of ideas and their more intrinsic value.

Have an inspiring week!
