Mars in Scorpio Direct: Pausing and Finding Querencia

Sometimes a quest offers you more than you had even hoped for.

For example, today as I was looking for a quote that would reflect the beauty of the pause, in honor of Mars stationing direct, I came across these beautiful words by Tara Brach from her book Radical Acceptance: Embracing Your Life With the Heart of the Buddha:

“In bullfighting there is an interesting parallel to the pause as a place of refuge and renewal. It is believed that in the midst of a fight, a bull can find his own particular area of safety in the arena. There he can reclaim his strength and power. This place and inner state are called his querencia. As long as the bull remains enraged and reactive, the matador is in charge. Yet when he finds his querencia, he gathers his strength and loses his fear. From the matador's perspective, at this point the bull is truly dangerous, for he has tapped into his power.”

I couldn't help but think how with the Moon in Taurus Wednesday and Thursday, this quote was even more perfect than I could have imagined, as it invoked the Bull (the sign of Taurus) as a symbol of the beauty of pause.

Additionally, it led me to the discovery of the concept of querencia, that space in which we are safe and fearless, and how being in that space then connects us to our power and ability to tap into the strength that can have us galvanized in pursuit of our desires.

Brach's quote and the notion of querencia feel like a gorgeous gift during this time that we're tapping into our desires, and going inward to find solidity, reflecting Mars stationing in Scorpio.
