The Wisdom Inherent in the Surprise {Uranus Stations Retrograde}
In honor of Uranus stationing (retrograde) today, I thought we could talk about surprises.
The unanticipated can catch us off guard. It can shock and/or rattle us. It can also break us out of pattern so that we can see the rafters of truth in a way we never considered. And once we see them in this way, we may find ourselves a little shocked, because these "just-realized" notions feel so obvious and inviolable, that we can't believe we didn't see/believe/understand and realize them previously.
And in that, it sets us upon a new course, one that may have us acting against the grain of past positioning, and with that we may feel a sense of personal freedom and/or feeling set apart in some way. Like Prometheus, we may find ourselves wanting to break ranks with the cadre we've associated with in order to do something we feel in our heart and soul must be done, as it will lead to progress, lead to illumination, lead to a bolstering of the human spirit in some way or other.
Thinking about this week, this week of the Uranus station, consider one thing that occurred or that you realized that surprised you, that revealed itself in a way that you would not have anticipated. Reflect upon how it made you feel, and how you found yourself re/acting when the "out of the blue" visited. (There is great learning in more clearly seeing how we respond when greeted with the unexpected. After all, life is filled with so many unknowns and feeling more comfortable with how we orient when we run across them can but only help to have us feel more secure and empowered.)
And then consider, if you will, how this experience may be re-orienting the course of your perspectives, beliefs, and/or habits, and therefore your life. Reflect upon how this "stick in the wheel"--this incident that rerouted you out of the rote--may have redirected you.
That said, in doing so, try not to be too attached to what you think the meaning, method, and outcome is, instead approaching it with a sense of curiosity and beginner's mind, open to a variety of possibilities of where it will actually take you. After all, it's Uranus we're speaking of, the planet that inspires us to be flexible, be open to the unknown, expect the unexpected, and see the grace that is inherent within the surprise.
