The week begins with a feeling that things are beginning anew. After all, the Scorpio New Moon occurred late last night.

Yet, what may feel anew may be something unexpected given that this New Moon connected in with Uranus, with the planet of revolution opposing both the Sun and Moon. Consider what feels shaken up and what’s shaking out because of shifting perspectives brought on by surprising occurrences.

With messenger Mercury coming together with relationship-honoring Venus this week, we may find ourselves receiving news or deeper understanding related to a partnership. We may gain an enriched level of insight into what it means to feel in harmony with another, and what’s required to do so.

Additionally, we may find ourselves focused upon the topic of value. This could manifest as our attentive consideration as to whether something has enough value to warrant our investment of time, money, or emotion. It may also offer us the opportunity to take a new look at the skills and talents we have, and discover a new dimension of valuing the richness that we embody.

It really feels like we’ve dove into a time period where looking below, being honest with our feelings, and claiming our desires may appear de rigueur. It's not only because we're now in Scorpio Season. It's also because Mercury has been taking up an extended residence in Scorpio. Usually spending three weeks in a sign, Mercury will be in passionate Scorpio for nine-plus weeks, owing to its retrograde cycle which begins on October 31.

I think that the timing of this cosmic-curriculum focus is interesting. We've been deconstructing to reconstruct areas of our life, facing our fears and opening to deeper transformation thanks to the Saturn/Pluto Conjunction that's exact early January. And so with Mercury in Scorpio for a while, it feels like we can get additional schooling on how to flex our probing, detective-mind muscle to the behest of the revitalization we are undergoing. Yet, that's not to say it's not without its challenges.

After all, we may find that we are pulled to go into terrain to which we usually turn a blind eye. Desires? Passions? Dark feelings? Shame? Who wants to face and talk about these things? Yet, face and talk we must if we are to continue to live a life with more clarity and freedom.

Mercury will be retracing its territory in its retrograde cycle October 31 to November 20. During this time, we can discover hidden truths and valuable jewels by not only going slow and being reflective, but by turning back around to find treasures that reside in the past.

Have patience, and courage, that you can go to those places in your thoughts that you may have felt were too tender, prickly, or intense. Oftentimes we like things wrapped up neatly, or to be black and white so we can feel like we’re cleanly taking a position. And yet with Mercury in Scorpio this may not be the case, as things may appear more messy; yet, with that we may also discover that while being in the complexities of the gray isn’t always our go-to spot, that there’s something enriching and truly real-life when we reside there. The retrograde phase may be very helpful here, as it may inspire a shift in the ways in which we allow ourselves to know, and understand—itself quite powerful and healing.
