Usually we have one Full Moon each month. But every couple of years, we experience two in the same month. And when we do, the second is called a *Blue Moon. It turns out this month we have a Blue Moon, and it happens to fall on Halloween. And it’s going to be quite juicy.

With the Sun in Scorpio and the Moon in Taurus, this Halloween Full Moon calls our attention to both practical and emotional matters. There’s a pull to be aware of the beauty right in front of us as well as the mysteries that are shrouded from view. We’re called to recognize that we can pour our passions, desires, and tenacious commitment into projects that can create real-world solutions about practical matters. it’s a time when we’re reminded that as what the underground environment—the soil, the earthworms, the roots, and the like—contributes is essential to all that grows on this earth, that what may be out of sight—our feelings, our motivations, the embrace of our shadow, etc.—is an essential ingredient in all that we create.

Now, this Blue Moon may bring with it out-of-the-blue surprises. That’s because the Moon connects with Uranus, the planet known for shaking things up. So expect the unexpected. Stay bouncy. And remember to be flexible.

A great strategy for this Blue Moon? Take a detour, whether literally or figuratively. Go a different route than you usually would. Take a path that’s out of the ordinary. As you do, you’ll see different sites and gain a new perspective. Let yourself be pleasantly surprised by what you discover when you change things up and see life through a different lens. This is what this Halloween Blue Moon is offering us.

* There is actually another definition for Blue Moon. Generally, there are three Full Moons in each season. Yet sometimes there are four. And when there are, the third Full Moon is referred to as a Blue Moon. This was actually the sole way that this term was used until 1946 when Blue Moon also began to be used to refer to the second Full Moon that could occur in any given calendar month, like our Halloween Blue Moon this year, the one that may turn out to cap off the month with an October Surprise.
