The Sun is now in Taurus, where it will remain through May 20. During its yearly stride though the sign of the practical, pragmatic, and sensual, we may find ourselves wanting to slow down and adopt a more leisurely pace. By doing so, we can become more aware of rhythms—whether ours, others, and/or those of nature—and discover the beauty and wisdom that springs forth by doing so. Mid-week consider doing an intention-setting exercise, aligned with the Taurus New Moon, to foster new dreams related to ways to connecting with nature, finding more nourishment through your daily routines and/or honoring your sensual side.

Speaking of springing forth, or actually rather bursting forth, this week is yet another one in which that which has been stirring below the surface pushes forth to reach the light of day. The reason? Two actually. On Saturday, volcanic Pluto stations retrograde while messenger Mercury makes a square alignment to the Jupiter/Pluto Conjunction.

Remember that when a planet (in this case Pluto) appears to change directions, which it does twice a year, the archetypes with which it is associated appear to be more alive and potent in our world and our consciousness. This emphasis on Plutonian themes—death and regeneration, the cycles of life, hidden realms, buried treasures, the subconscious, the shadow, power, control, sh*t, etc.—seems to captivate our attention days before and after the moment of Pluto’s shift in direction. Therefore, the whole week may feel like it’s stamped with this deeply stirring and intense energy.

If you’re thinking “more of that?” or “How different is this than what we’ve been experiencing?”—you’re right. We’ve been in the swell of these dark Plutonian realm for a while, and may have noticed an intensification of it in mid/late-March; this was when assertive Mars united with both Jupiter and Pluto, weeks before the first of this year’s three exact Jupiter/Pluto Conjunctions (that was April 4, the other two are June 30 and November 12).

We’re still digging, we’re still diving, we’re still experiencing the release—whether of feelings or information—that has been long buried. We may find ourselves even more touched by sorrow, or fear, or horror, or rage related to what’s been occurring in our lives, both individually and collectively. We may find ourselves burrowing down, and connecting to what it feels like to surrender, feel stripped down, and/or experience loss.

And yet, through that, there’s also the possibility to discover the hidden treasure: the discovery of what resides at our core, what is essential to us, what our deepest resources are—and that no matter what may occur, we carry a soulful essence that can never be taken from us. We may find ourselves furthering our tête-à-tête not only with what it means to survive but what it means to thrive.

I believe all this will be made even more vocal owing to Mercury—the planet that rules the mind, media, and the transport of information, people, and goods—making a square alignment to both Jupiter and Pluto this week.

Further tension could arise if we find ourselves losing patience with going slow and wanting to quickly comprehend and share news about subjects that instead involve long-haul perspective and planning. After all, Mercury is in quick-fire and initiating Aries while Jupiter and Pluto are in steadfast and structured Capricorn. If you find yourself feeling impatient at all this week, wanting to throw off limits that seem imposed, consider using Impatiens flower essence. It encourages patience and the ability to align with the natural flow of time.
