The week begins with a Cancer New Moon, the second one we’ve had this year. You may remember back to the Solstice there being a Solar Eclipse. That was also a Cancer New Moon.

This lunation inspires a new chapter as it comes to galvanizing impetus to tend to loved ones, nourish and feed oneself, understand what it means to be at home, and develop more familial bonds, whether to family of origin or choice. We may see that beginnings inspired at the end of June develop a deeper level of complexity and rootedness, with any traction they’ve gained etched more deeply to create awareness of steps that we feel even more committed to take.

Speaking of commitments, we may find ourselves catalyzed to make some, and our awareness as to which ones may come through a desire to push back upon limitations and what we may feel are structures that are overly imposing their rule upon us. The reason: this Cancer New Moon opposes Saturn.

One manifest example of the Cancer New Moon opposite Saturn can be found in Portland’s Wall of Moms, a gathering of mothers who formed a human shield in this Oregon city this weekend to protect Black Lives Matters’ protestors. After all, Cancer represents the maternal and walls/barriers are very Saturn. What’s more, though, is that the Moms (Cancer)--chanting “Leave our kids alone” and “Feds stay clear! Moms are here!”--stood opposite federal officers, symbols of the patriarchal rules and institutions, notably as they have been reported to have been displaying unfettered show of force in the detention of protestors.

Applying this Cancer New Moon opposite Saturn principle to our personal lives, we may find that we’re driven to build a structure that can contain our propensity to love, protect, feed, and nourish ourselves and those with whom we align. This could manifest as fortifying your garden, expanding your cooking repertoire, discovering new ways to honor your mother or yourself as mother, finding more solid ways to express your emotions, or even gathering with others to safeguard those that you feel are taking a stand for their homes and/or homelands.

Mid-week the Sun moves into Leo and we enter a month in which we’re called to nourish our creativity, heart’s unfettered radiance, and childlike spirit (as well as the kids around us). Go on a several-week journey to discover what love means to you and how living through a lens of deep generosity makes everything and everyone shine that much brighter.

All my very best,

Stephanie
