With the Vernal Equinox approaching, we’re about to enter Aries season. And while Aries inspires us to act fast, remove delays, and cut to the chase of whatever it is that we’re focusing on, before we get there, let’s first discuss we’re we are now. At the end of Pisces season.

With the Sun spending its last five days in the boundary-blurring sign of Pisces, we may find ourselves feeling exceptionally sensitive, open to connecting to waves of feelings, thoughts, and inspirations. We may find ourselves overwhelmed and pulled by the undertow of emotions that flow through us and/or perceive that we are buoyed by love—the source of which we may or may not be able to identify—that has us feeling a part of something bigger than ourselves. We may find ourselves experiencing deep longings, which may have us further identify our desire to forge a deeper sense of belonging. And as our sensitivity increases so may our idealism; this may allow us to tap into our most divine dreams and yet we just need to be careful that it doesn’t have us flow too readily into playing the victim or the martyr, or castigating ourselves for choices we ideally know we could have made, but didn’t. Forgiveness is great medicine, one that can inspire great healing not only for others but for ourselves.

And then, as the Sun shifts into Aries on March 20, we may find that we have a bit more spring in our step, as if its fiery energetic burns off some of the moisture that has stymied our ability to move forward. We can tap into a cache of courage and feel more motivated to act in pursuit of our desires. Our focus turns to galvanizing our energy, and marshalling our will, all in pursuit of aims for which we want to be a champion. Remember though that Aries is instinctive and loves to move quickly; this can have benefits and yet we need to watch that we don’t get too inflamed by the impatience, impetuousness, and ire that can be more commonplace during Aries season.

While most people think of December 31 as marking an ending and January 1 a beginning—using this yearly moment for reflecting back and envisioning forward—from an astrological perspective, the shift between Pisces season and Aries season also holds this energy. After all, Aries is the first sign and Pisces the last. As such, it marks another moment in the year when we can look back to all that we experienced, and how we grew and evolved as the zodiacal signs unfolded through a cycle. We can then gather those insights and use them to nourish the soil in which we are planting our visions for what we want to blossom in the coming year.

Happy Equinox!
