Stellar Insights: December 21 - 27, 2020

Monday is the Solstice, a time always seen as being quite powerful and significant.

It’s a moment associated with an extreme – either that of darkness or that of light – with an awareness that we are headed again toward equilibrium, the balancing of the two. A new season is beckoned, whether winter in the Northern Hemisphere or summer in the Southern one.

The Solstice has captured people’s minds and hearts for eons, with traditional celebrations occurring throughout history. Reflecting upon findings that some pre-historic monuments align with the sunrise on the winter Solstice, we realize that this moment captivating our attention is anything but new. Cultures across the globe honor the Solstice in their own unique ways; instead of writing about them here, I thought to refer you to one of the interesting articles I found on the subject. (Therein, you’ll find a mention of the Japanese traditions of taking baths with yuzu fruit and eating kabocha squash—these sound delightful…I may just try these!)

Yet this particular Solstice feels especially powerful because it’s also the day of the Jupiter/Saturn Conjunction. Happening every 20 years, this alignment referred to as the Great Conjunction, is not only an amazing astronomical sight, but is also an esteemed moment marker from an astrological perspective. It’s thought to herald in a new cultural chapter. This time the two planets—possibility-orienting Jupiter and reality-defining Saturn—meet up in Aquarius, a sign associated with collectives/communities, technology, science, networks, logistics, the future, and even astrology. We’ll likely see an even greater opening to these realms over the coming years (and notably in 2021 when both reside in this sign). What’s thought to also be significant is that this is the first of the series of Great Conjunctions in air signs, with the last many being in earth signs; and with this we may find that we experience a collective shift of awareness from the mundane to the intellectual, from practicality to ingenuity, from dependence upon (and over-use of) material resources to solutions derived from innovations and relationships.

There’s so much to write about the Great Conjunction and likely you’ve been reading about it in numerous spots. So I’ll keep this short and just say…

That the Solstice and Great Conjunction are occurring on the same day seems nothing short of magical divine timing! It feels like we’re on the precipice of something big and something new.

And if this be true, consider for yourself what your vision is for a new future. What would it look like? How would it appear? What would your role be? Don’t yet worry how it will manifest; just stay with what arises within your mind’s eye and heart’s radar. Have this vision be one of the compasses that guides you as we embrace the advent of a new beginning.

PS. This graphic was designed by Megan Koval for a new project that we are launching today on the Solstice + Great Conjunction day. It’s called My Stellar Year, and it’s an online course to help you navigate 2021 with more clarity and confidence. You can find out more about it here
