Our thoughts may get a little bit more lively this week, with curiousity encouraging us to travel down pathways here and there to find answers to things that suddenly pique our attention. I say this because on Monday messenger Mercury enters its home sign of Gemini.

Mercury will actually make an extended visit to this intellectually oriented sign owing to its upcoming retrograde, which begins May 29 and goes through June 22. Instead of the three or so weeks that it usually spends in one sign, Mercury will be in Gemini for over two months (May 3 – July 11). So, get set for a period in which variety is in vogue, being mutable feels like a must, and fact finding takes on a whole new level of fun. Also, remembering that as Gemini is the sign of the Twins, we may find ourselves seeing things through this view and that one; this not only has us appreciating each side of a proverbial coin but remembering that they are inextricably linked as we aim for synthesizing apparent duality into a holistic understanding.

When I think of Gemini I often think of butterflies, notably in terms of how they move freely here and there, seemingly dancing on the wind as they flit about. That sense of freedom, and agility, and moving about from flower to flower in search of nectar (pollen in the case of butterflies, information in the case of Gemini) feels very aligned with this sign. Additionally, the Greek word for butterfly is psyche; and while it encompasses the human soul and spirit, it also signifies the mind, something to which Gemini is quite aligned.

In addition to Mercury, Venus enters Gemini this week, where it will be through June 2. So, as our minds become captivated by our curiosity, inspired by information, and encouraged by conversations, we may also find that these are qualities we seek out in our relationships. They may also be things we highly prize, so much so that we are willing to spend money in their pursuit. So, if you find yourself surrounded by a stack of magazines, buying some cool writing instruments, and/or treating yourself to a new device that will uplevel your communications capacity, don’t be surprised.

Additionally, as the week comes to a close, the Moon gets darker and darker, in advance of the monthly New Moon, which happens on May 11. Remember that the Balsamic Moon phase is a great time to turn inward, seek refuge in the quiet, and appreciate the deep wisdom resides deep within you.
