You likely don’t need me to tell you that things may feel a bit heavy. That the theme of concealment feels prominent. That emotions are running really high. That things buried underground are rising to the surface. Or that shadows seem even more captivating than usual.

As we’ve been in the swirl of the Pluto station, with the planet of the depths shifting retrograde Tuesday, during the lead-up to a Scorpio Full Moon on Monday illuminating the darkness overhead as well as below, things may feel as if they are churning, and that deeply seeded awareness is about to burst forth.

Things always seem to be intense around the annual Scorpio Full Moon but with Scorpio’s modern-day ruler, Pluto, so active at the same time, it feels like a 1-2 punch that delivers messages to bring power and control issues to light, face our fears, own our desires, and transform something from its core. This feels even more notably strong given that Saturn makes a square to the Full Moon, really calling us to pay attention to what is manifesting.

The other day we decided to begin the David Attenborough series A Perfect Planet. And wouldn’t you know, the first episode was on a subject so Scorpionic and Plutonian - Volcanos. What I learned and experienced had me more fully appreciate them as a wayfinding archetype for these times.

Consider this: volcanos are utterly scary and destructive. That which is hidden from beyond view can erupt, creating explosive eruptions of smoke clouds and lava flow that threatens to decimate life.

And yet, volcanos are the source of life. It’s thought that volcanic eruptions are not only at the bedrock of 80% of the earth’s surface but that they are the source of earth-bound transformation that creates nutrients that allows life to flourish. Volcanos at once threaten survival yet also, over time, inspire the ability of life to thrive.

Reflecting on volcanos may be a good way to navigate this moment. Look below the surface at what is wanting to be released. Acknowledge and own any terror, fear, and deep emotions that may be circulating for you now. Allow for your feelings to flow. Have the courage to let go of anything—whether actual objects or beliefs or narratives, etc.—that no longer serve you. Take refuge in the remembrance of the cycles of life. Own your shadow, claim your power, face your fears, and allow for whatever transformative process is wanting to be given birth to right now. All the while find the support you need to bolster your sense of steadiness and security as you open up to new life, a new way of being, and a reforged landscape of your emotional terrain.

With the Sun also connecting to Uranus this week, it feels even more important to be open to surprises and expect the unexpected. Remember that power inherent in pivoting, the buoyancy that staying bouncy yields, the way that being flexible gives you more strength. Be proactive in changing things up, moving around the literal and proverbial furniture, seeing things from a different angle, and taking a step back so that you can see new patterns emerge.

If you need some support to power through the week, remember what powerful allies flower essences can be. For all-around stress-tempering, you can use Rescue Remedy (or Five-Flower Formula) blend. If you’re working through specific and identifiable fears, Mimulus is a good choice, while if anxiety seems diffuse and you can’t concretely identify the source of what’s worrying you, consider Aspen. If you’re under a dark cloud with no identifiable source, look to Mustard and if shame is arising and you need encouragement to be more emotionally transparent and forthright, explore Pink Monkeyflower. If your well of disquietude emerges from a different source, you can also research other flower essences that may address your under-the-surface stirrings.

Finally, I thought to share with you the affirmations that I included in The Complete Guide to Astrological Self-Care for the Scorpio Full Moon (each of the 24 New and Full Moons have a dedicated page including affirmations, self-care rituals, an exploration of the inherent opportunities and challenges, and Stellar Reflection Questions).

  • I trust my core instincts.

  • Treasures reside below the surface.

  • I own my power.

  • I am resilient.

As always, wishing you my best,

Stephanie
